Booze shouldn't be boinking fuel

DEAR RHONA: I have a friend who insists that her boyfriend has the best sex when he's been drinking. I am worried that she is just rationalizing his over consumption of booze.

I wonder if maybe he isn't as attracted to her as she thinks -- if the alcohol is needed to get things going they might be fooling themselves. How does alcohol affect a person's sex drive? -- HJ ¬

Dear HJ: Alcohol affects the circulatory system. And the responsiveness of male equipment is controlled by blood flow. Send in more blood and it stands at attention, lower the pressure and it snoozes. Studies on impotence implicate smoking and drinking as common culprits¬ when there's a problem with performance. And although other health reports sing the praises of a glass of wine a day, more than that can damage assorted body parts, especially the liver. Alcohol lowers inhibitions, which may seem like a remedy to the romantically reserved, but relying on liquid bravado to make a move is never a great idea.¬ Your friends should rethink their "boozing to boink" formula before the love machine sputters.
