REPORT CARD: COLIN CRAIG

Treat your children to an ice-cream cone today because they'll be left to pay for all the debt the federal government is racking up. At $49.2 billion, this year's deficit is the second-largest in Canada's history. It's not acceptable that the government's five-year outlook does not include any balanced budgets.

They need to look at substantial cuts to the growing bureaucracy, grants for special-interest groups and eliminate corporate welfare. If they were serious about cutting the deficit, gold-plated MP pensions would also be on the chopping block. Overall, this is not a good-news budget for taxpayers.

Grade: D
