Warehouse fire on Sutherland sends plume of smoke over district

A fire broke out in a 10,000-square-foot loading warehouse on Sutherland Avenue this morning sending a plume of smoke over the district that could be seen for miles.

There were no reports of injuries in the fire at EJR Reload Inc., 250 Sutherland Ave.

According to the company’s website, EJR was incorporated in March of 1981 as a lumber transfer facility that "works hand in hand" with Canadian Pacific Rail and Canadian National Rail.

In 1987, the company became a transfer facility for steel for CP Rail.

The company  also executes rail to truck transfers with distribution throughout Manitoba, western Ontario and eastern Saskatchewan.

There is no damage estimate at this time.
