A MANITOBA mother is desperate to find her 20-yearold daughter who went missing 12 days ago.

Susan Parent said her daughter, Stacey Thomas, went for a short walk in the small town of St. Joseph, near Emerson, around 9 p.m. on Aug. 23 and hasn’t returned.

Parent reported her daughter missing an hour later, worrying that her ex-boyfriend may have breached a no-contact order.

Parent said her daughter filed the order against a former boyfriend in July.

"She just went for a walk and disappeared," Parent said.

Parent said police initially told her Stacey probably just "took off," but her daughter left her wallet, keys, money and clothes at home. She said she can’t understand why RCMP didn’t put out a public alert for her daughter earlier or conduct a full-scale search.

An RCMP spokesman could not be reached for comment late Saturday.

Police put out a news release about Stacey’s disappearance on Friday afternoon — about 10 days after she initially went missing.

"I think they should do a search," Parent said. "No one has seen her in 12 days."

Morris RCMP say Stacey is considered to be a vulnerable person, and it is believed she may be staying in Winnipeg.

She is described as aboriginal in appearance, 5-foot-3, with a slim build, brown eyes and black, below-theshoulder hair. Parent said she is "sick" over Stacey’s disappearance, and has already scoured the one kilometre-long St.

Joseph trail where Stacey went for a walk, in addition to a few locations in Winnipeg. She said there has been no sign of her daughter.

"I’ve gone looking, I’ve looked in Winnipeg, I’ve looked in the area," Parent said, between tears. "I’m so worried."

Anyone with information is asked to call Morris RCMP at (204) 746-2323 or their local police department.
