Random acts of kindness

Many thanks for the hand up

I would like to thank the lady who came to my assistance when I fell in the Zellers store on Richmond Street in May.

She was just going out the doors with her two children, but came back in to help me up off the floor.

So again, I thank you very much for your kindness.

ID returned

I recently lost my wallet at the Safeway at Grant Park. I would like to thank the person who mailed my identification back to me.

Thank you.

Cyclists in need get timely help

My friend and I were having a nice, long bike ride when something went wrong.

Turning too fast, I avoided injury by jumping off my bike and pushing it to the ground. Unfortunately, this jammed the chain between the gears and I couldn't ride my bike.

A nice couple named Darren and Nancy came to the rescue. Tools were needed, so Darren and his wife asked if we wanted to go to their home just a few blocks away. With tools, Darren was able to fix the chain.

I just want to thank Darren and Nancy for being so kind, helpful and caring. Don't stop being you.

Postie offers helping hand

Whenever I visit my daughter who lives on the 900 block of Sherburn Street, I've noticed her Canada Post letter carrier is a particularly pleasant, friendly and courteous fellow.

But he outdid himself last week.

My daughter and I were attempting to move some heavy furniture up the front steps of her porch. This letter carrier quickly pitched in to help.

He took more than 10 minutes out of his busy day to assist us and worked with us until the job was done.

We were and are most appreciative.

Never forgotten

I was on my way to the Pan Am Clinic for an appointment with a physiotherapist one February day.

I had to cross the bridge on Bishop Grandin Boulevard. As I did, the car hit some black ice and bounced around hitting the sides of the bridge. The car was hit from behind also.

I was badly shaken up and could hardly move my neck and head.

A car stopped and out stepped a young lady, Christine Alongi, who was on her way to work. She phone Autopac and had my car towed away. She offered to drive me wherever I was going. I arrived a bit late for my appointment, but she got me there.

I've never forgotten her kindness.

Happy gardeners honoured

We moved back to the city three years ago, after living on one-and-a-half acres of land with many huge flower beds.

My husband and I enjoy flowers, so our front flower bed (almost the whole front yard) has been a work in progress for the last two years.

One day in July, we came home to find a sign posted on our front yard. Upon reading the sign, we realized someone had nominated our front yard for the Winnipeg in Bloom 2010 contest.

We would like to thank them, whoever they are, for the nomination. It really meant a lot to us that others enjoy our flower garden as much as we do.

Unfortunately we didn't win anything this year, but it was an honour to be considered.

Thank you again and happy gardening.
