Labour Day Classic
The Banjo Bowl is the most anticipated home game of the season and is only one week away. For now, you'll have to cheer on the Bombers from your living room as the team takes on their rival Roughriders in the Labour Day Classic today in Saskatchewan. You can catch the game on TSN at 4 p.m.
Métis Harvest Celebration
For an afternoon of craft workshops, folk music, square dancing and traditional food, head out to the Riel House National Historic Site for the Métis Harvest Celebration and Corn Roast. The festival runs from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. and only costs $3.90 for adults and $1.90 for youth.
AEROSMITH
One of the world's most famous rock bands is stopping by Winnipeg for their Cocked, Locked, Ready to Rock tour this Wednesday. The band will play the MTS Centre with special opening guests Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. Tickets range from $69.50 to $162.25. Visit ticketmaster.ca for more information.
Mystery And Magic
From Sept. 2 until Sept. 16 fine art photographer Charlie McDougall reveals the hidden treasures of one of Winnipeg's most famous buildings in his photo exhibition The Mystery and Magic of the Manitoba Legislature. Twenty images of the Legislative Building's fascinating architecture will be on display at the Cre8ery gallery in the Exchange District.
Gaslight Anthem
The Jersey rockers have just released their third album, American Slang, and are bringing their hometown-inspired melodies to the Burton Cummings Theatre this Monday at 8 p.m. The Mezingers and Fake Problems will open the show. Tickets range from $28.85 to $38.25 and are available at www.ticketmaster.ca.
Strung Out
It's a concert-packed week in Winnipeg and for your dose of punk music, head to the Pyramid Cabaret where Southern California punk band Strung Out will be playing tonight at 7:30 p.m. Special guests Rufio, Mute and We Are The Union will open. Tickets are $25 and available at www.ticketmaster.ca.
Free Fishing
Here's your chance to score the big catch before summer is over. Fishing will be free from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. today at Fort Whyte Alive with the regular $6 admission price. If you don't have fishing poles or tackle, don't worry. The centre rents them out for $5.
