Forget-Me-Not Pancreatic Cancer Network is holding a bottle drive and barbecue Aug, 6, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Kildonan Park Shopping Centre parking lot and is looking for volunteers to help sort bottles collected and to be taken to the vendor. Call Lisa 223-5659 or pancanmb@gmail.com
Rainbow Stage will be holding its production of Hairspray Aug. 4 to 21 and require volunteers for the following positions: usher to help patrons find their seats and make sure theatre etiquette is maintained; ticket scanner to scan the tickets of guests as they enter the theatre; souvenir seller; program seller; 50/50 ticket sellers; assist concession workers by closing popcorn boxes and handing out ice cream and other simple tasks. Age and Opportunity requires culturally sensitive volunteers who enjoy working with older adults to facilitate conversation circles for English as an Additional Language. Duties will include utilizing available resource kits to initiate and stimulate conversations within small groups of 12 to 15 people. Strong leadership skills and experience in group work with excellent written and verbal communication skills are requirements. Two hours per week for 10 weeks beginning in the week of Sept. 19.
