  • Print

A Winnipeg man is facing numerous alcohol-related charges following a horrific crash in the North End earlier this year.

The Sept. 20 crash saw a Ford F150 smack into a Chevrolet S10 at a high rate of speed near the corner of Main Street and Aberdeen Avenue, resulting in the F150 jumping the curb, narrowly missing two trees and smashing through a chain link fence that surrounded a used car lot.

Eight different vehicles in the lot and two other vehicles on the street were also damaged.

Three people, a 46-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman in the S10, along with a 44-year-old woman passenger in the F150, were taken to hospital in stable condition. The driver of the F150, a 58-year-old man, was taken to hospital in critical condition. He was later upgraded to stable.

Police investigation revealed that alcohol was a factor in the crash and arrested the driver Thursday. He has been charged with three counts of driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood causing bodily harm, three counts of driving while ability impaired causing bodily harm and three counts dangerous operation of motor vehicle.

He was released on a promise to appear.
