3 charged following downtown mugging

Three people are under arrest and facing a variety of serious charges after a strong-arm robbery downtown late Tuesday night.

Patrol Sgt. Monica Stothers said that a 55-year-old woman and a 49-year-old man were walking around Carlton Avenue and Cumberland Street around 10 p.m. when they were attacked and robbed by a man and two women.

The male victim was assaulted, but did not require medical attention. The suspects robbed the pair of personal items.

Two suspects were arrested soon after, and a third arrested later.

Among the charges were robbery with intent and robbery with violence; all three were charged with breaches of probation or recognizance.
