Winnipeg’s ‘311’ service department is about to get up close and personal.
The city is opening up its 311 contact centre to the public, expanding the service for face-to-face dialogue between city staff and citizens. Starting Monday, those who wish to retrieve information or report a problem can do so at City Hall weekdays between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Citizens will also be able to make service requests, purchase Transit bus passes, and pay for a dog licence or a water utility bill using the in-person method.
Winnipeg already provides 311 service via phone, email, fax, online self service and through a mobile app.
The customer service counter will be staffed by existing positions at the 311 contact centre, the city said in a release.
