7 Things to Do
1 Start your engines
Calling all Mustang drivers! The 33rd International Mustang Meet is back in Winnipeg for the first time since 1994. To celebrate the final day of the meet, drive your Mustang down to the Victoria Inn for the Sunday Cruise event. Cruisers drive one of Manitoba’s most scenic routes: down River Road to the Half Moon Drive In. The cruise will begin at 10 a.m. today, though you’re encouraged to get there early as parking space is limited. For more information visit manitobamustang.com .
2 Barge in
Take in the final day of the Manitoba Lotteries Barge Festival — a culmination of the three-day festival of free entertainment afloat on a barge stage.
To cap off the fest, enjoy the music of the Dust Rhinos, the Barra MacNeils and the Bart House Band. Also, don’t miss the Arrival of the Selkirk settlers parade, which kicks off the festivities at noon, and the fireworks display at 9:30 p.m. For more information, visit theforks.com .
3 Ride into history
Be transported back in time with Danny Schur’s one-person play Sam’s Spiel, which allows you to witness the Winnipeg General Strike first-hand. Today starting at 11 a.m., you can board a heritage trolley and ride alongside Sam Lockhart, an intrepid photographer seeking the perfect photo on Bloody Sunday. Admission is $40 and includes lunch and a discussion at the Winnipeg Free Press News Café. For more information or to reserve your tickets, call 204-697-7069.
4 Get lost in a story
Travel to a fantastical new world where mysterious and whimsical creatures dwell. The WAG’s Fairy Tales, Monsters, and the Genetic Imagination exhibit takes you on an adventure into more than 60 works by contemporary artists highlighting invented creatures.
The WAG is open today from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission prices range from $8 to $10. Kids get in free. For more information visit wag.ca .
5 Batter up!
Take yourself out to the ball game today to watch the Winnipeg Goldeyes take on the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks.
With the local hitters taking the field today at 1:30 p.m. at Shaw Park.
Ticket prices range from $5 to $25 and can be purchased in advance through Ticketmaster or on game day at the box office. For more information, visit goldeyes.ca or call 204-982-BASE.
6 Learn to dance
Celebrate Chinese Culture Day by learning some of the country’s traditional dance moves. Today from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., there will be a one-day workshop in the Sichuan style of dance at the Great Wall Dance Academy.
Admission is $20 per person and it includes lunch. Space is limited. For more information, contact greatwalldance@gmail.com .
7 Grow into some art
Art is alive and well in Winnipeg, thanks to the WAG’s Green... Grass...
Dot exhibit. The exhibit showcases Winnipeg artist Ewa Tarsia’s living plant treatments of the Winnipeg Art Gallery building’s indoor and outdoor spaces. The exhibit is open today from noon until 5 p.m.
Admission ranges from $6 to $18.
Tickets can be purchased by phone at 786-6641 or at wag.ca .
