Red River Barge Festival
It's the fifth and final day to catch live performances on the river at the first ever Red River Barge Festival at The Forks. Today's Family Day is hosted by Al Simmons and will feature popular children's performer Fred Penner, who takes to the barge at 4 p.m. For more information visit www.artsforall.ca.
CN Canadian Women's Open
St. Charles Country Club welcomes some of the world's most talented golfers to the CN Canadian Women's Open, which ends with the championship final round today. Canada's only LPGA event tees off this morning at 7:20 a.m. Tickets are $30 at the gate. Visit www.cncanadianwomensopen.com for more information.
Goldeyes
The Winnipeg Goldeyes host the Fargo Moorehead RedHawks for their final home game of the season today. The fish want to thank all the fans who have come out to support them with Fan Appreciation Day. Tons of prizes will be given out throughout the game, which begins at 1:30 p.m.
Jazz In the Park
The Assiniboine Park's Summer Program is winding down with the final day of the Sunday Jazz Series in the Leo Mol Sculpture Garden at 3 p.m. If you want to make your visit to the park a full day excursion, have brunch at Terrace Fifty-Five Food and Wine or visit the new lion exhibit at the zoo.
Morden Corn and Apple Festival
If you're looking for an inexpensive day trip, head out to Mordern for their 44th annual Corn and Apple Festival. The weekend-long festival offers free admission, free live entertainment, free buttered corn-on-the-cob and free cold apple cider. There will also be street vendors and a farmers' market. Bison Safari
Unfortunately you won't see lions, elephants or zebras, but you will have the chance to get up close with the bison at Fort Whyte Alive's Bison Safaris. Today's tours last about 30 minutes and leave on the hour from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Visit www.fortwhyte.org for more information.
Laser Shows
The music of popular bands like Daft Punk and Pink Floyd is combined with laser-light images at the Manitoba Museum's Planetarium Laser Shows. You can catch a matinee show today at noon or at 3:00 p.m. The evening shows air every Thursday, Friday and Saturday until September 7. Visit www.manitobamuseum.ca for more information.
