After frosty night, high today 11C

Here’s a new regional dish: Frozen green tomatoes.

At least, that might have been the result of temperatures falling to a chilly -1C on Monday morning and a forecast of a low of 1C Tuesday night, with a risk of frost.

Environment Canada predicts today’s high will be 11C, with a 30 per cent chance of showers in the afternoon and winds from the northwest at 20 km/h in the early afternoon.

There is also a 30 per cent chance of showers on Tuesday evening, with a mixture of sun and cloud, and a projected high of 17C. By Wednesday, the forecast low will rise to a more garden-friendly 11C, with a high of 14C.

That’s the bad news. For the remainder of the week, beginning Thursday, the forecast calls for largely sunny weather, with a high of 16 and a low of 5C.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday are predicted to be sunny, with highs of 15, 19 and 17, respectively. Lows will be in the 3-5C range for the weekend.
