Alcohol seen as rollover factor

RCMP say alcohol is believed to be a factor in a fatal single-vehicle rollover Saturday morning.

A 48-year-old man is dead and the 40-year-old woman who was driving the car is in critical condition, police said in a news release. Both are from Swan River. Three other passengers in the car were treated for minor injuries.

The accident involving a compact car happened at 6:30 a.m. three kilometres north of Benito on Highway 83.

The westbound car lost control and rolled coming to a stop on the south shoulder of the road. Road and weather conditions at the time were good, police said. The Swan River RCMP, its criminal collision investigation team, traffic analyst and Manitoba medical examiner's office are investigating.
