Alleged killer Lamb appears in court on new charges

Alleged serial killer Shawn Lamb made a video appearance in bail court this morning related to new charges involving a fifth victim.

A publication ban was placed on the proceedings, including the identity of the complainant.

Winnipeg Police this week charged Lamb, 53, with sexual assault with a weapon. A young woman claims she was forced into having sex and beaten with a car club in either November or December 2011.

Lamb was charged last June with three counts of second-degree murder for the deaths of Lorna Blacksmith, 18, Tanya Nepinak, 31, and Carolyn Sinclair, 25.

The three women were killed in separate incidents between September, 2011 and January 2012. Blacksmith’s body was found in June but police believe she was killed in January; Sinclair’s body was found in March but police believe she was killed in December. Police believe Nepinak was killed shortly after she disappeared in September. Her body has not been recovered and it’s believed to be buried deep within the Brady Road Landfill..

Lamb was also charged with sexually assaulting another woman, which led police to suspect him in the deaths of the three women.

None of the allegations has been proven. Lamb remains in custody.
