Arbitrators side with Seven Oaks; no higher wage increase for teachers

An arbitration panel has ruled in favour of Seven Oaks School Division in its contract dispute with teachers.

The panel ruled that there is no substantial reason to award Seven Oaks teachers higher wage increases than those that 34 of 37 teachers associations have accepted across the province.

The teachers had sought retroactive increases that would put them on par with Louis Riel School Division teachers.

The arbitration decision means that Seven Oaks teachers will receive two 1.5 per cent phased-in increases for the 2010-2011 school year, followed by two per cent increases effective September of 2011, 2012 and 2013, in a four-year contract expiring June 30, 2014.
