Arson strike force investigates Main Street fire

Two Main Street buildings were badly damaged after a fire broke out just before noon today.

Crews were called to 1051 Main Street near Burrows Avenue and arrived to heavy smoke. There were no injuries.

Platoon Chief Frank Leswick said crews entered the building on the south side, flames were shooting up the walls and from the ceiling.

No one was inside the building when firefighters entered. Neighbours said the buildings had been vacant for some time. Damage has been estimated at $100,000.

The arson strike force is investigating.
