Nobody was injured in a basement fire at the former Canada Post building downtown this afternoon.
Fire platoon chief Frank Leswick said that despite it being a tough place to get to - in the basement of a large building under construction - fire crews were able to put it out quickly.
"This building is under construction and there were work crews there at the time," Leswick said.
But Leswick said the arson strike force is investigating the cause.
It is the second fire at the construction site. The building is being converted into the new Public Safety Building.
Police have closed southbound Garry Street and Graham Avenue, northbound Smith Street at St. Mary, and westbound St. Mary at Garry.
