Beach waters safe: Manitoba Conservation

If you’re heading to the beach this weekend, you can breathe a sigh of relief that the water is safe.
E. coli tests this week at beaches monitored by Manitoba Conservation and Water Stewardship came back within the recreational water quality guidelines.
An algal bloom today at Grand Beach Lagoon is also nothing to fear, with levels of algae toxin below guidelines.
Also, anyone heading to Sandy Bar Beach can hop back in the water after levels of blue green algae dropped below guidelines on July 5. An algal bloom on July 3, showed levels were above the limit, but this has since changed.
You may want to be cautious about an algal bloom reported today at Grand Beach Lagoon, which is being tested.
But for beaches around the province, algal toxin levels are below guidelines.
Manitoba Conservation and Water Stewardship said, however, to make sure to avoid swimming in areas where large algal blooms are visible and prevent pets from drinking water along the shoreline.
