Beaten teen unable to talk, police say

A 16-year-old boy found seriously beaten on Aberdeen Avenue Tuesday morning has so far not been able to talk to police about what happened.

"We can’t get information from him at this point," Patrol Sgt. Monica Stothers told reporters Wednesday.

Police found the boy in the 300 block of Aberdeen Avenue at 8 a.m. Tuesday. He is in hospital in unstable condition.

"There’s nothing indicating" gang involvement, she said.

Stothers said police know the boy’s identity, but are not making it public. Nor will they say where he lives, how long he had been there, or what type of injuries he suffered. Police responded to reports of an injured male, said Stothers, rather than to the assault which occurred sometime earlier.

Anyone with information is asked to call investigators at 204-986-6219.
