Boy, 14, charged with sexually assaulting girl
A 14-year-old boy is in custody after he broke into a home in Elmwood early Saturday night and sexually assaulted a young girl.
Winnipeg police said officers responded to a call of a break and enter in progress at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
When they arrived at the Elmwood home, police found a male suspect sexually assaulting a young girl in the home.
The boy fled but was caught by police following a short chase.
The boy is being held at the Manitoba Youth Centre, where the charges against him include: break and enter, two counts of sexual assault with a weapon; forcible confinement; and failing to comply with the conditions of an undertaking.
