Boy escapes with minor injuries after collision with truck

A seven-year-old boy escaped without major injury when he backed up into a moving sanitation truck at the John Blumberg Soccer Complex, where a large soccer tournament took place Sunday. RCMP said the boy sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The boy, 7, was at a mini-donuts stand when he started walking backwards, into the path of the truck, which was driving by.

"Luckily his injuries were minor," RCMP spokeswoman Sgt. Line Karpish said Sunday.

There were many witnesses to the accidents. No charges are planned against the 47-year-old truck driver.
