A Brandon child died Saturday afternoon after running out into the street and being struck by an SUV.

The Brandon Police Service said the tragedy occurred just after 5 p.m., when a two-year-old boy ran out into traffic from between parked cars in the 800-block of Princess Avenue, near 9th Street. He was struck by a westbound SUV.

Police said the little boy was taken to the Brandon Regional Health Centre, where he died from his injuries shortly after arriving.
