Brandon mom finds drunk stranger holding baby

A Brandon woman says she was in the kitchen when she heard a noise, only to find a stanger, apparently drunk, standing in her living room and cradling her baby girl.

Police say it happened around 1 p.m. on Friday afternoon in the 800-block of Ninth Street. The woman's husband called them later that afternoon to report the incident.

The front door to the home had apparently been left propped open, with the couple's infant daughter lying in a baby carrier just inside. The stranger, described as tall, skinny and in his late 30s, had apparently come through the door and picked up the girl, and was rocking her in a soothing manner when her mother came into the room.

He then put down the girl, who wasn't harmed, and left.

Police say the suspect was aboriginal in appearance, had shoulder-length hair, was dressed in black, and was believed to be intoxicated.

They continue to investigate.
