Brother charged in River Heights stabbing death

WINNIPEG -- Justin Frederick Larche has been charged with manslaughter in stabbing death of his older brother, Winnipeg Police Service said this morning.

Police were called to the scene near 2 a.m. Monday morning on the 100 block of Lindsay Street. There, Christopher Barry Larche, 25, was found in the front yard of the home. He was taken to hospital and later Monday morning succumbed to his injuries, police said.

According to police, Christopher Larche and his girlfriend lived at the address with two kids under age 12 who were asleep when the fight started.

The mother of both brothers attended the family gathering.

The investigation revealed that at the gathering at the home, the two brothers became involved in an argument and that as the dispute escalated, other family members attempted to intervene.

As the fight continued, police said, 22-year-old Justin Larche armed himself with a knife.

Autopsy results are pending, police said today.
