Buhler to receive Order of Canada Friday

Manitoba businessman and philanthropist John Buhler will receive his Order of Canada at a ceremony Friday at Rideau Hall in Ottawa.

Buhler, who entered the farm machinery business in 1969, formed Buhler Industries in 1994 and bought Canada’s last remaining tractor manufacturing plant, Buhler Versatile, in 2000, will be among 43 others inducted into the Order of Canada Friday at 10:30 p.m.

As a philanthropist, Buhler, 78, has been a major donor to numerous Manitoba museums, including the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, and a number of hospitals, including the Health Sciences Centre and St. Boniface General Hospital in Winnipeg.
