There were three fires in the city overnight, two in empty North End houses, and one at Eastman Feeds on Marion Street.

A house fire at 476 Burrows Ave., early today destroyed much of the building and closed the street to eastbound traffic during rush hour.

The fire started in the kitchen, the fire department spokesman said, and there were no injuries. Damage to the house is estimated to be $20,000.
