Busy night as police investigate stabbing, robberies
A man stabbed downtown early this morning is not helping police catch the person that attacked him.
Police say the victim is in stable condition following the incident near Portage Avenue and Spence Street around 1:45 a.m.
Detectives with the Winnipeg Police Service continue to investigate but the victim is not being cooperative.
A few hours earlier, in a non-related incident, a convenience store at the corner of Broadway and Young Street was robbed, but police quickly made an arrest.
One man is in custody. No one was injured in the foiled robbery around 11 p.m.
A police spokesman told the Free Press a gas bar was also robbed around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night in the 300 block of Wardlaw Avenue near Donald Street.
The suspect, about five-foot-six with a smaller build and believed to be a teenaged boy, threatened the attendant with a knife and made off with cash.
No one has been arrested.
