CMHR to provide 'unparallelled' access for persons with disabilities

Canadian Museum for Human Rights will provide unparallelled access for people with all kinds of disabilities, unlike any other museum in the world, its executives promised earlier today.

"Cutting-edge technology, nationwide input from the disability community and pioneering Canadian research have ensured the museum visitor experience is designed from its early planning phases to include the full range of human diversity," the museum announced in a formal statement.

Museum executives unveiled their design approach, which relies heavily on cutting-edge technology, at a press conference, and they’ve issued invitations to a range of members from the disabled community tonight at The Inn at The Forks. The focus of the meeting is to explain the design approach and the museum content, as it relates to rights for the disabled. The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. and it is open to everyone.

"As a museum for human rights, we intend to include everyone. We have adopted an approach where universal access and full inclusion are not simply 'fit' in but where they are ‘built’ in... as part of the central design. Not as an afterthought," said CMHR President and CEO Stuart Murray today.
