CancerCare Manitoba and the University of Winnipeg are teaming up to offer a degree program in radiation therapy.
The program will complement a diploma program that’s been offered for decades by CancerCare.
"Thanks to this partnership, a diploma and degree in radiation therapy now equips Manitoba students with outstanding credentials and skill levels that are recognized nationally and sought after around the world," said Dr. Dhali Dhaliwal, president and CEO of CancerCare.
The degree program will be four years in length. Students will obtain both a diploma from CancerCare and a science degree from the university.
The two institutions had already been accepting students for the program before the announcement was made this morning.
It’s believed that several radiation therapists at CancerCare who have diplomas will apply to enter the degree program.
