Police make arrests in both weekend murders on Roseau River First Nation

RCMP have charged a 32-year-old Roseau River First Nation man with second-degree murder in the death of a 20-year-old Roseau River man on Saturday.

Police did not release names or details.

However, Grand Chief Terry Nelson of the Southern Chiefs Authority told the Free Press on Sunday the victim is his cousin Vince Maracle, who Nelson said was beaten to death.

RCMP said the murder is not related to the murder of Charles French, which occurred Friday in Roseau River First Nation. Police have made an arrest in relation to that death.
