Charities receive $17K from state of city address

Mayor Sam Katz’s 2012 state of the city speech raised $17,000 for a pair of inner-city non-profit organizations, Katz’s office announced today.

The event held in March at the Winnipeg Convention Centre raised $8,500 for both Ka Ni Kanichihk, which conducts programming for aboriginal people, and Resource Assistance for Youth, which works with young people who are homeless or living on the streets, the mayor’s office said.
