A crash in North Dakota just after Christmas has claimed the life of another Manitoban.
Sophie Conner, 3, died Tuesday, roughly two weeks after a collision with a semi-trailer truck killed her mother and another young girl, Evelyn Lau, 3, and injured Evelyn's mother, Allison Lau.
Sophie's mother, Karla Mackenzie, 33, died after her family's SUV was struck from behind by the semi on Interstate 29 near Drayton on Dec. 28.
The crash happened in a blinding snowstorm as the group was en route to a nearby hotel to wait out the bad weather. The two families were headed to Minneapolis for a post-Christmas holiday.
Sophie was remembered by family as a child who loved to spend time at the park, play make-believe restaurant and have tea parties with her father, Steve Conner, who suffered minor injuries in the crash.
Services will be held Tuesday morning at the Victoria Inn.
