Residents troubled by snow-clogged backlanes may be in for some help.

Mayor Sam Katz and Transcona councillor Russ Wyatt want the city to re-examine the policy of not clearing windrows from back lanes after they’ve been plowed.

The city currently clears windrows only from front driveways. Officials always said it wasn’t possible, with the narrowness of the lanes, to clear windrows from back lanes given the size of the trucks used in snow clearing.

But in a motion to council, Katz and Wyatt said it may be possible to clear the windrows from back lanes using modern equipment.

The issue will be discussed at an executive policy committee meeting.
