City crews are htting the roads after several centimetres of snow fell on the city.

The City of Winnipeg has started plowing secondary streets and bus routes to clear some of the snow that began falling Monday night.

Snow has been falling in the city since approximately 11 p.m. on Monday, according to Environment Canada. The city began salting regional streets last night and has now began plowing secondary streets with the use of 150 pieces of snow-clearing equipment, the public works department announced in a statement.

The city is also sanding residential streets and plowing sidewalks along regional roads, secondary streets and bus routes. The cost of the current snow-clearing operation is estimated at $300,000.

Environment Canada is calling for more flurries tonight and a 30 per cent chance of flurries Thursday.

The city’s overnight parking ban remains in place on snow routes until March 1.
