The City of Winnipeg has reached a contract deal with the union representing its professionals, middle managers and other white-collar employees.
On Wednesday, council will consider a four-year deal with the Winnipeg Association of Public Service Officers, or WAPSO, that will cover a period ending in October 2015. WAPSO has been without a contract since October 2011.
The terms of the deal include no wage increase for the first year of the contract, a retroactive wage hike of one per cent and wage increases of 2.5 per cent in each of the two final years, according to a report to council.
Approximately 600 city employees are WAPSO members. This contract will cost the city $9.6 million over four years but will not require any budget amendments, according to the report.
