City's 2012 homicide count hits 30

The city’s homicide count has reached 30 after a woman stabbed on Dec. 2 died recently of her injuries.

Police say Samantha Cherish Anderson, 24, was rushed to hospital after an assault in a home in the 400 block of Boyd Avenue around 2 a.m. on Dec. 2.

Police say Shayla Elyshia June Woodford, 21, originally charged with assault, now faces a murder charge.

A 17-year-old girl was also hurt in the confrontation and sustained minor injuries.
