Cold today, and get ready for snow

Winnipeggers can wake up this morning, enjoy the -26 C windchill, and rest up for all the shovelling they'll have to do on Sunday and Monday.

Temperatures started at -18 Celsius this morning, with a 20 km/h south wind, but will reach -8 this afternoon and stay there through the night. There's a one-in-three chance of flurries tonight.

A chance of freezing rain will greet Sunday morning, to be followed by 5 centimetres of snow and 30 km/h south winds. Temperatures will be steady at about -11 C.

More blowing snow is forecast for Louis Riel Day on Monday.

The week will be cold with forecast highs of -16 C Tuesday, -15 C Wednesday, -11 C Thursday, and -17 C Friday.
