Community run to honour slain Moncton officers

  • Print

The tragic shooting that took the lives of three Moncton RCMP officers last week remains in the hearts and minds of Manitobans — some of whom are getting set for a special tribute.

Winnipeg police chief Devon Clunis — along with Point Douglas MLA Kevin Chief, members of the RCMP, students at Norquay School and other community members — are scheduled to run on Friday morning in honour of constables Fabrice Gevaudan, Douglas Larche and Dave Ross.

Three red balloons, one for each fallen officer, will be released at the event, a spokesman for the Manitoba government said.

The run starts at 9:30 a.m. Although an exact location wasn’t provided, the run will proceed through Point Douglas. The run is a part of the Run With the Chiefs event that began last year.
