Crash near Steinbach claims 59-year-old man

A man from the RM of Franklin is dead following a fatal two-vehicle collision south of Steinbach.

Steinbach RCMP were called to the scene Friday evening at the intersection of Highway 12 and PR 303 in the RM of La Broquerie.

Initial reports found that a van travelling eastbound on PR 303 collided with a car travelling northbound on Highway 12.

The driver of the car, a 59-year-old man from Franklin, was pronounced dead at the scene. A female passenger was taken to hospital. Her condition is unknown.

The driver of the van, a 48-year-old woman from St. Pierre-Jolys, was transported to hospital. Her injuries are not known. 

Road conditions and visibility were reported to be good in the area at the time of the collision.
