Dauphin RCMP stop robbery in progress at hotel

  • Print

Dauphin RCMP were at the right place at the right time Wednesday night.

Attending a call at a Dauphin hotel for a different matter, officers came across what sounded like a fight on the floor above, according to a RCMP release on Thursday. Locating the room, RCMP were greeted by a man who told them that everything was fine.

Further investigation into the situation found a 73-year-old man on the floor of the room.

The 73-year-old had allegedly been thrown to the floor after demands for his money were rejected, and a suspect was in the process of looking through the man’s personal belongings when police arrived at the door.

The elderly man was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Jerome Stanley Cook, 22, has been charged with robbery and remains in custody until his court appearance on Monday.
