Dozen arrests after police sweep targetting outstanding warrants

A dozen people were arrested during a sweep in and around The Pas that saw police track down people wanted on outstanding warrants.

The sweep by RCMP from The Pas and Opaskwayak Cree Nation took place last Thursday and Friday. The warrant apprehension initiative also included checks on licensed establishments and more than 100 curfew checks.

Twelve people were arrested and an additional 24 charges were laid.

The RCMP says it will continue to crack down on people with outstanding warrants.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of people with outstanding warrants should call their local police department or Manitoba Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or www.manitobacrimestoppers.com. You can also text "TIPMAN" plus your message to Crimes (274637).
