Driver at North End stop sign assaulted by girl trying to take her purse

A teenaged girl tried to steal a purse from the seat of a vehicle stopped at a stop sign in the North End late Monday, and later assaulted two police officers, police said this morning.

The robbery occured about 11 p.m. in the area of Magnus Avenue.

The girl opened the passenger side door of the vehicle and tried to take a purse on the seat. The 49-year-old female driver, who suffered minor injuries to her upper body, held on to the purse and the girl fled empty-handed.

Patrolling officers came upon the robbery and arrested a female teen nearby close to Charles Street and Magnus Avenue.

While under arrest  the girl is alleged to have assaulted two police officers and threatened them. The officers were not injured.

A 16-year-old female teen has been with charged with robbery with intent, two counts of assaulting a peace officer, two counts of uttering threats, and failing to comply with terms of a sentence provision.
