The driver of a car that hit three pedestrians near a Minnedosa music event has been charged with several impaired driving offences.
Christopher Palaschuk, 39, is facing one charge of impaired driving over the legal limit causing death, one causing bodily harm, and two counts of failing to remain at the scene of an accident.
A man was killed and two others injured when a driver near a Minnedosa music event hit three pedestrians early Monday.
Minnedosa RCMP said in a release they received a call shortly before 3 a.m. about a serious collision between a car and three pedestrians close to the entrance to the Rockin' the Fields of Minnedosa festival.
RCMP said a southbound vehicle on Provincial Road 262 near Road 85 North hit Shawn Cooper, 25, and a woman, 23, both from Minnedosa, before hitting a 44-year-old Winnipeg man a short time later.
The Minnedosa pair was walking on the shoulder of the highway.
Cooper was taken to Minnedosa Health Centre where he died from his injuries. The 23-year-old woman was treated in hospital and released. The 44-year-old was treated at the scene of the incident.
Palaschuk appeared in Minnedosa Provincial Court on Tuesday, and his next appearance is scheduled for Thursday.
