Elmwood-Kildonans Pool closed indefinitely

  • Print

The Elmwood-Kildonans Pool remains closed indefinitely while city staff continue to assess the extent of the damage from last week’s fire.

A city spokeswoman said all activities at the pool on Concordia Avenue have been suspended.

Activities at the pool were halted May 8 following an electrical fire that’s believed to have started in an electrical panel.

The spokeswoman said city staff are still trying to determine the extent of the damage.

There is no timeline for repairs to begin or the pool to re-open.

Estimates of the value of the damage or the cost of repairs is not available.

The spring 2014 swim programs have been suspended. City officials said they expect participants can resume their lessons in the August/September session.

Otherwise, participants can withdraw and get a credit for the remaining lessons.

It’s unknown at this time if there will be any summer programs at the pool.
