One person was taken to hospital following an industrial fire on Sherwin Road early this morning.
The incident occurred at Reliance Products, a plastics manufacturer, at approximately 2 a.m. The fire started in a storage silo containing plastic resin pellets.
An official with the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service said 23 overnight workers had to be evacuated. One person experienced breathing problems and was transported to the Grace Hospital in stable condition. There were no other injuries.
Damage is estimated at around $50,000 for the structure and $250,000 for the materials.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
