Fire causes extensive damage to Pro-Fab Industries plant near Arborg

About 35 employees were evacuated after an industrial fire at Pro-Fab Industries near Arborg this morning.

Heavy smoke was coming from the plant when firefighters arrived just before 9 a.m. The fire has since been extinguished. Damage estimates are not available, but fire and smoke damages are considered extensive, according to an RCMP release.

The Manitoba Office of the Fire Commissioner will be investigating the cause in collaboration with the RCMP.

There are no reports of injuries.

The plant is about 100 kilometres north of Winnipeg.
