Firefighters battle blaze on Selkirk Avenue

Firefighters have extinguished a blaze in a two-storey home on Selkirk Avenue near the intersection of McKenzie Street.

At least one person was hanging out a window when emergency crews arrived at the working fire about 1:25 p.m., according to an initial report from the scene. But everyone was evacuated safely from the house.

Traffic is blocked around the North End area while emergency crews clean up the site.

The cause of the fire, and the cost of damages, are not yet known.
