Fires overnight damage homes, garage

Police are investigating the cause of two fires overnight.

The first, in the 100 block of Lansdowne Avenue, broke out around 12:30 and spread to the house next door before crews could put it out.

The deck ignited on the first house and flames burnt off the siding on the next one. Damage was $50,000 for the first, $25,000 for the second home.

Police are investigating that fire because they don’t know why it started, a police spokesman said this morning.

A few hours later, kids were seen running from a garage on fire in the 1100 block of Atlantic Avenue, just after they were spotted entering the garage. That fire is suspected arson and damage is $30,000.
