  • Print

A Flin Flon RCMP officer is facing assault charges after it was alleged he mishandled a prisoner, according to a RCMP press release.

Const. Jamie O’Brien faces one charge of assault causing bodily harm and one charge of assault with a weapon. The charges come after an internal investigation into allegations he mishandled a male prisoner in August of 2012. The findings of the investigation were forwarded to Manitoba Justice and the charges were laid on July 22.

O’Brien has been suspended with pay and the internal RCMP investigation process is ongoing. O’Brien is scheduled to appear in court in Flin Flon on October 3.
